The most traditional filling for hopia is none other than yellow mungo. It’s made from fresh yellow mung bean imported directly from the central valley of the Visayas region in the Philippines. To sweeten the delicacy, a brown sugar was used and is characterized by its yellow shell.

Hopia has a shelf life of 1-2 weeks stored at room temperature. For longer periods, the hopia can be frozen up to 6 months. To thaw: do not reheat or defrost. Leave at room temperature until it is ready to be eaten. To enjoy warm, microwave for 15-20 seconds.
